We were once again graced with Grandpa's presence...and it was so fun to have him here! He even wrote Koen a fun letter that arrived two days beforehand. It had pictures of Grandpa with his diggers and some really big logs! The look on Koen's face when we told him that Grandpa has his very own diggers was quite funny. This made Koen extra excited for him to get here.
During Grandpa's visit we read books...many of them were unfortunately 'potty' themed (sorry Dad). Grandpa played the 'roll game' and basketball with Koen. He showed us that he's got game, even while sitting in a chair, facing away from the basket! I think he even surprised himself. Grandpa got to watch Koen take batting practice on the front lawn...one of our favorite summer evening past times. Koen is getting quite good at hitting the ball!
One day we met Brenda & Jerry for a walk around the lake. We listened to Grandpa play the guitar...never can get enough of that! We rode the bus to Pike's Market for a heavenly peach crepe! Mmmm...and we bought giant scallops that we threw on the grill that night. Grandpa also came with us to Koen's very first preschool event...the Summer Co-op Sing-a-long. It was there that Koen met Teacher Andrea for the very first time. We are super excited for preschool to begin!
Grandpa showed Koen a few little 'movies' on his laptop. Koen thought that was pretty cool. It was also some good snuggle time for both of them.
We went out for dinner one night, and stopped on the porch for a quick photo opportunity. Finn is just starting to get to know his Grandpa...it's very sweet.
Here we are walking around the lake. We took a popsicle break at the snack stand and Koen was determined to avoid another photograph!
This is one happy little grandson. The morning after we dropped Grandpa off at the airport, Koen woke up at 7:30 and the first thing he said,
"Mommy, is Grandpa still here?"
"No...he had to go home yesterday."
"Did he fly on the blue airplane?"
"Yep!" ????
And after a bit of pondering, he said,
"Maybe he can drive in his car to see me."
He was so sincere, wanting Grandpa to come back. I asked him if he wanted to call Grandpa to say 'hi' and he did. So he called Grandpa that morning and talked to him for a minute. It was terribly sweet. This is one of the photos that Grandpa took of Koen while he was here. Thanks for coming, Dad! We look forward to next time!
