Daily Frenzy

Every afternoon when Clay gets home from work, Koen shouts out to him, "Daddy, I'm ready for some 'stashios'". This has become their little ritual, ever since uncle Devin sent pistachios from Qatar.

Clay gets a paper towel, fills it with nuts, and grabs a ramekin for the shells. The two of them sit in the middle of the living room floor and devour them one by one, hardly bothering to take a breath. Koen does pause occasionally to announce when he's found a 'good one', meaning that it is mostly opened. He also finds it hilarious when Clay hands him a nut that is fused shut, never to be opened, and tells him to eat it. Oh the giggles! That joke never runs out of gas in this house. :)

The whole 'frenzy' (as we call it) wraps up with Koen cleaning up the mess, and taking the shells in to the food waste bin. He actually loves to do this part as much as he loves eating the snack!

Each time, we reminisce about how fast and furious Papa can go through a pile of pistachios. We joke that Clay and Koen are in training for a match up with him next time he comes to visit. I've got the stop watch ready!

On this particular day, Finn got to participate...yet only as an innocent bystander. Someday, he can join the team of crazy nut crackers!






On another subject....we played around with the camera a bit, and were able to get some fun shots of Finn smiling. This kid has tons of different facial expressions, and he's always moving his fingers and hands around. Have a look!
