Sounders FC!!!

Last weekend we attended our very first major league soccer match! We saw the Seattle Sounders play the Chicago Fire at Qwest Field (where the Seahawks play as well). It was a big event. The Sounders are a new team for Seattle, and all the fans are still pretty crazy for the events. Most of the stadium spends the whole match on their feet! Luckily, we were in one of the two or three sections that remained seated. Clay had Koen on his lap, I had Finn on mine, so it was nice to be seated. Plus, we had packed a lunch which was hard enough to eat sitting down with limited space!

Koen got his very first (and last for a long while) taste of soda...and it was blue, too! Arghh! This is against all of my personal nutritional rules! But Clay took him along for a bathroom break, and back they came with a blue raspberry lemonade soda. How could I say 'no' after all the anticipation? Not to mention the fact that there wasn't ample room for the tantrum that would ensue upon denial of a sip! So Koen thoroughly enjoyed the 5 tablespoons we gave him. He could've been in an ad for the stuff, the way he cocked his head back and closed his eyes with each sip.

Anyway, we had a great time, even though the final score was 0-0? Really, a tie? Clay and I are not entirely up on our Soccer Match 101, so we were a bit confused when it ended.

And the funniest thing happened...as we sat watching the field, a strangely familiar face walked up the steps of our section. Only, he was a vendor selling chips and water? Clay nudged me and laughed, "Take a look at your brother coming up the steps!" I thought to myself, "Hmmm...that guy really does look a lot like Collin. What?!! It IS Collin!" New job...first day...we knew nothing about it. What a crack up! We bought two waters from him and he later got to join us for a few minutes. Crazy!

It was a good event. I would definitely do it again...so much energy in the stadium!
